Kurt Mederacke
Kurt Mederacke (born September 23, 1910 in Leipzig , † February 3, 1983 in Braunlage ) was a German bassoonist and composer.
He received his training from 1927 to 1935 at the State Conservatory of Music in Leipzig . He initially studied violin with Charles Münch , later majoring in bassoon with Carl Schaefer. His first compositions are documented in 1933. In 1942 Mederacke was listed as 3rd / 1st in the Tonkunstler Directory. Bassoonist performed in Chemnitz . After 1945 Mederacke had a job in the Braunschweig State Orchestra as a solo bassoonist . He held this position until his retirement in 1975. He spent the last years of his life in Braunlage [Harz], where he also died. His compositional work is largely untapped. His wind quintet "Böhmische Suite" op. 43, which first appeared in print in 1948, is played frequently and is well known.
