Career

Kurt Morwinsky’s boxing career began in 1950 when a young trainer from 07 Ludwigsburg put on boxing gloves for the children who were fighting in front of the town hall - among them the eleven-year-old Kurt Morwinsky. 1957 Kurt Morwinsky was Württemberg youth welterweight champion. During his military service, the exceptional talent from Württemberg boxed for BC Uerdingen. There he won two Niederrhein titles. One middleweight and one light heavyweight.

After completing his military service, Kurt Morwinsky returned to Ludwigsburg. He boxed again for 07 Ludwigsburg. In 1960, the man from Ludwigsburg began a series of victories in the Württemberg championships that are unparalleled. By 1969, he won ten light heavyweight titles in a row. Further championships in Württemberg followed in 1973 and 1975.

National successes

Kurt Morwinsky achieved his greatest successes in 1960, 1961 and 1975. In the German championship fights from November 2 to 6, 1960 in Cologne, he became German champion for the first time after winning points in the final against Kurt Stroer (BC Rüsselsheim) Light heavyweight. In 1961 he repeated this success in the Berlin Sportpalast with a final victory against Horst Benedens (Viktoria Wehofen). After Morwinsky had become Württemberg champion for the twelfth time in 1975 and thus qualified for the German championships in Berlin, he traveled to the championships as a 36-year-old and no one had him on the bill. When national coach Dieter Wemhöner asked him in the hall, he asked the Ludwigsburg: "Yes, Kurtchen, what else do you want here", to which the person addressed countered: "Mr. Wemhöner, old cannons are still shooting." After clear points victories against Emler (TG Worms) and Anterhaus (PSV Berlin), he won the final with 5: 0 points over Hein (ASV Dachau) and was German Champion of the Year 1975.
