Kurt Nitsch

Kurt Nitsch (born May 27, 1915 in Dillenburg ; † November 6, 1984 in Hanover ) was a German pediatrician and university professor.

Live and act

Nitsch was born in 1915 as the son of a doctor. He studied human medicine at the universities in Marburg and Göttingen and completed his studies in Göttingen in 1938/39 with the second state examination and doctorate . In 1946 he became a specialist in internal medicine, and in 1948 a specialist in pediatrics. In the following year he received his habilitation and from 1954 was professor of paediatrics in Göttingen.

From 1953 to 1973 Nitsch worked as chief physician at the DRK children's hospital Cecilienstift in Hanover. In 1954, the child protection association was founded in Hanover as one of the first local associations in the Federal Republic, Nitsch was one of the co-founders. From 1975 to 1981 Nitsch acted as President of the German Child Protection Association. Nitsch was also chairman of the German Society for Social Pediatrics and from 1983 an honorary member of the society.
