Kurt Wimmer (screenwriter)

Kurt Wimmer (born March 9, 1964 ) is an American screenwriter and director .

Life

Wimmer attended the University of South Florida , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in art history . He then moved to Los Angeles , where he has worked as a screenwriter and director ever since.

Wimmer made his debut as a screenwriter in 1992 with the comedy film Double Trouble - Wait Until My Brother Comes . This was followed by two scripts for horror films. In 1996 he wrote the story for the action film The Wolves . In the same year Wimmer made his debut as a director and directed the action thriller One Tough Bastard . So far, two more films have followed that he has directed.

For the film Equilibrium - Killer of Emotions he developed the fictional martial art of Gun Kata together with the choreographer and martial arts expert Jim Vickers . He also made use of gun kata in the film Ultraviolet . However, the film was less successful than its "predecessor".

In 2009 Wimmer first appeared as a producer and was involved in the film Law of Vengeance , for which he also wrote the screenplay.

In 2010, Wimmer wrote the script for the agent thriller Salt with Angelina Jolie. After this film was successful worldwide, Wimmer has now also been engaged for the script for the sequel to the action thriller. When the second part will go into production and whether Angelina Jolie will take on the lead role again is currently unknown.
