Kushari

Kuschari ( Egyptian-Arabic :كشری) is a traditional, simple Egyptian dish. It is often offered in cookshops that don't serve anything else and is the cheapest option for a filling meal for locals and travelers alike. Kushari typically consists of black or red lentils , rice , small noodles (usually a kind of short macaroni) and chickpeas (on Wish). The ingredients are usually cooked separately, then mixed and seasoned with vinegar , tomato sauce, garlic and fried onions. Kuschari is almost always a vegetarian dish, but there are also some variants with minced meat.

Kuschari is possibly related to the Indian khichri , also a vegetarian dish based on rice and lentils.
