Kuusisto [ ˈkuːsistɔ ] ( Swedish. Kustö ) is an island in the archipelago off the southwest coast of Finland . It is upstream of the city of Kaarina and has an area of 19 km². The narrow sound between the island and the mainland is spanned by a bridge, and Kuusisto is also connected by a bridge to the island of Kirjalaön belonging to Pargas . Until 1946 Kuusisto was an independent municipality , today the island belongs to Kaarina.

In the Middle Ages, the castle of the bishops of Turku was located on Kuusisto . After the introduction of the Reformation , it was demolished in 1528 on the orders of King Gustav I. Wasa . Today it is only a ruin. The wooden church of Kuusisto is a simple single-nave building from 1792, the free-standing church tower is from the previous building and was built in 1763. The churchyard is surrounded by a quarry stone wall that is about as old.
