Maha Lawka Marazein Pagoda

The Pali canon , the life and teachings of the Buddha, is laid down on the marble slabs . The originally gold-plated letters are only colored black today. Because of this extensive representation, the pagoda is also known as "The largest book in the world". Before this system was created, the texts were mainly written on palm leaves or wood. The inscriptions have been included in the list of World Document Heritage by UNESCO .

In the middle of the complex there is also the gilded Maha Lawka Marazein Pagoda, which was built in 1857 according to the plans of the Shwezigon Pagoda .
