Kvällstoppen

Kvällstoppen was a Swedish hit parade in radio . The program was first broadcast on July 10, 1962 and lasted until mid- 1975 .

The Kvällstoppen played the 20 best-selling albums in Sweden, which were determined in selected record stores. At the beginning, no distinction was made between sales of single and album. At the end of the 1960s, the five best-selling LPs were listed separately. After a few years, however, they switched back to the original mode. The program was broadcast on Tuesdays by Sveriges Radio P3.

Since at the beginning between 30 and 40 record stores were used to determine the sales charts, there were doubts about the informative value of the placements, which is why further stores were included for the statistics. For 20th place around 2,000 to 3,000 copies had to have been sold in the mid-1960s.

Often a song, although not listed in the Kvällstoppen, still became a hit in Sweden. When determining the Kvällstoppen, for example, songs that were not known worldwide such as Light My Fire by the Doors and Leader of the Pack by The Shangri-Las were recorded. In contrast, the songs presented in the program Tio i topp often led to the sales successes of the Kvällstoppen. Both programs were discontinued in the mid-1970s.
