Tio i topp
Tio i topp was a radio broadcast on Sveriges Radio and the first hit parade in Sweden . It first aired on October 14, 1961 , with Lill Lindfors as the host. The last show was produced in 1974 with Kaj Kindvall .
The songs of Tio i topp were often found in the sales charts and thus in the Kvällstoppen hit parade . In 1974 Tio i topp was replaced by the program Poporama .
Voting and rules
Sveriges Radio found the template for the broadcast through the pirate station Radio Nord and its Topp 20 + 10 charts . For the voting, postal letters were used on Radio Nord, Tio i Topp visited a different city every week. During the live broadcast from there and from the fixed second location Stockholm, the charts were selected by the listeners at the push of a button.
One hour before the start of the new program, in the preliminary round, ten new songs were presented to the audience, five of which were chosen as novelties. The 15 songs were available for selection during the broadcast, were rated by the listeners on site and thus the top ten were determined. The ten songs were played to the audience, which then voted on first place.
The number of songs played in the preliminary round varied, in autumn 1964 there were 30 (called Trettio i test ), April 1972 35, from July 1972 again 30, of which 10 were the top ten of the previous week (called Kanske på Tio i topp ). In order to make room for newly published songs, rules on October 14th allowed the songs to stay in Tio i topp for a maximum of 12 weeks.
The rules of provided for only one song per music group in Tio i topp, which was later changed because, on the other hand, artists were allowed to be represented twice as individuals and with their bands. On January 4, 1964, the stipulation was extended to a maximum of two songs, and finally lifted in December 1964. The reason was the emergence of world famous bands such as The Beatles and Hep Stars , several of which were current.
Some bands tried to influence the audience's choice by performing in the place a few days before the broadcast and performing their songs. To counteract this, the broadcast was expanded to three cities per broadcast on September 3, 1966, with Stockholm remaining the fixed broadcast location. The fixed broadcast location was waived after the group Science Poption tried to order their fans to vote in Stockholm.
The voting procedure was changed on June 1, 1968, the Statistiska centralbyrån selected the jury members, who then carried out the vote by telephone. The procedure should be maintained until the end of the broadcast.
Summer tops
Tio i Topp was supplemented by the Sommartoppen , which replaced the normal program in the summers 1962–1966. The vote then took place exclusively in one place, usually on the occasion of a city festival or festival. The first place was determined in one ballot instead of the usual three rounds. From September 1963 this mode was also used for the main program Tio i topp.
