Kyōto Teramachi Sanjō no Holmes ( Japanese 京都 寺 町 三条 の ホ ー ム ズ ) is a series of novels by Mai Mochizuki . It has been released in Japan since 2015 and has been adapted as a manga and anime . The light novel belongs to the romantic comedy genre . The anime became known internationally as the Holmes of Kyoto .

After high school student Aoi Mashiro ( 真 城 葵 ) moved to Kyoto , she happened to come across the Kura antique shop, where student Kiyotaka Yagashira ( 家 頭 清 貴 ) worked. His family owns the shop and Kiyotaka has already earned a reputation for having a particularly good eye for antiques - but also for other details of his surroundings or his fellow men - and is therefore called Holmes of Kyoto . He realizes that Aoi also has a good instinct with antiques and hires her to help out. From then on, Aoi accompanied Kiyotaka on his assignments to evaluate antiques and sometimes also to solve other puzzles.
Book publications
The novel series has been published by Futabasha since April 2015 . 10 volumes have appeared so far. In 2016 the series was awarded the Kyoto Book Grand Prix. In December 2017 , a manga series about the novels started in the magazine Gekkan Action , also with Futabasha . It was implemented by Ichiha Akizuki and so far comprises two anthologies. An English translation of the manga has been published online by Crunchyroll .
Anime series
In 2018 Studio Seven made an adaptation as an anime . Directed by Noriyoshi Sasaki and lead author was Kenichi Yamashita . Yōsuke Itō was responsible for the character design . From July 10 to September 25, 2018 after midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ), the series was first broadcast by TV Tokyo , TV Osaka in Japan, as well as on TV Aichi , BS Japan and AT- with an offset of up to four days . X . At the same time, it was published internationally by Crunchyroll , including with German and English subtitles.

The opening credits of the series were underlaid with the song Koi ni Saku Nazo, Harahara to. ( 恋 に 咲 く 謎 、 は ら は ら と ) by AŌP. The song Sasameyuki ( 細 雪 ) by the Wagakki Band was used for the credits .
