Kyeok Too Ki (also written Kyeoktooki or Kyuk Too Ki ) is on the one hand a modern Korean martial art . On the other hand, this term in Korean stands for martial arts in general and is therefore a synonym for Mu Ye . Kyeok Too Ki is also used in Korea instead of the term Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and in this sense has nothing to do with concrete modern martial arts.

Kyeok Too Ki as the style of Master Yun Sae-kwon

Kyeok Too Ki as a concrete modern martial art was developed in the early 1970s by Grandmaster Yun Sae-kwon (9th Dan, Hapkido , † November 6, 2013). It is constantly being developed to this day.

Traditional martial arts or martial arts mostly developed as independent, self-contained disciplines and, according to Yon Sae-kwon, each have their specific advantages and disadvantages. The main idea of Yon Sae-kwon was to take the advantages and positive aspects of these martial arts and eliminate the disadvantages.

Kyeok Too Ki includes foot and punch techniques, lever and throwing techniques for self-defense, yoga, Qigong energy and breathing exercises, relaxation training and meditation in rest and movement. Advanced students of Kyeok Too Ki also learn techniques and forms with the long sword ( katana ), long and short stick, spear, dan bong, fan ( tessen ) and knife. Some weapon techniques were borrowed from Chinese wushu .

National and international competitions are held regularly, in which - similar to the K-1 set of rules - full contact is fought.
