Cyrus (Constantinople)
Cyrus was the patriarch of Constantinople (706-712). He is venerated as a saint in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches . Remembrance days are January 8th (Orthodox) and January 7th (Catholic).
Life
Cyrus was a hermit ( Rekluse ) on an island of Amastris . In the spring of 706 he was appointed Patriarch of Constantinople by Emperor Justinian II in place of the deposed Kallinikos I.
Soon after the fall of Justinian, probably in early 712, Cyrus was deposed. He was accused of monotheleticism and banished to a monastery.
