László Fekete (football player, 1954)

László Fekete (born April 14, 1954 - March 4, 2014 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian football player . The striker , 1979 top scorer of the Hungarian National Championship , played from 1974 to 1979 in 21 international matches for the Hungarian national team , scoring five goals.

Athletic career

Fekete made his debut in 1973 for Újpest Budapest in the national championship. Until his departure in 1984, he and the team won the championship title four times and the Hungarian national cup twice . The striker was often overshadowed by his club mates Ferenc Bene and László Fazekas , but he was part of the Hungarian national team from 1974. A participation in the 1978 World Cup was denied to him, here were taken from the offensive of Újpest in addition to Fazekas András Törőcsik , László Nagy and András Tóth by selection coach Lajos Baróti . After the tournament he was back in the national team - not least because of his accuracy in the league, which led him to the top scorer title with 31 goals this season.

In the summer of 1984 Fekete moved to the west after 136 goals in 233 games for Újpest and joined the Austrian club SK Sturm Graz . His stay here lasted only a short time, after just one season he decided to return to Hungary and let his career end with Komlói Bányász .
