László Orbán (boxer)

László Orbán (born December 9, 1949 in Szekszárd , † July 15, 2009 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian boxer.

Orbán was European champion in 1969 in featherweight (-57 kg) and bronze medalist at the European championships in 1971 in lightweight (-60 kg). At the 1972 Olympic Games , after winning over Mohamed Sourour, Morocco (5: 0), Giambattista Capretti, Italy (4: 1), Ivan Mikhailov, Bulgaria (4: 1), Tai Ho Kim, South Korea (4: 1) , and Alfonso Pérez , Colombia (3-2), the final. He denied this against the reigning European champion Jan Szczepański from Poland , to whom he was defeated with 5-0 judges' votes.

After his career, Orbán became a coach. He died in 2009 of complications from a heart attack.
