The Läckerli Huus is a Swiss confectionery and baked goods manufacturer based in Frenkendorf in the canton of Basel-Landschaft .

history

In 1903 the young baker , pastry chef and confectioner André Klein set out to emigrate to the United States . When he was taking a break in Basel , a newspaper advertisement drew his attention to Leopold Mosetter, who was looking for an associate for his confectionary. They joined forces and one year later founded the Läckerli Huus.

The company specialized in the production of Basler Läckerli and a number of other Basel delicacies. For reasons of space, the company later moved from its location on Breisacherstrasse in Kleinbasel to nearby Münchenstein, where the former Sarasin & Heusler cotton spinning mill was relocated . In January 1945 a fire destroyed the entire production building with the bakery and confectionery, which plunged the company into a serious crisis. A year later, the company moved to a new location in the immediate vicinity of the destroyed factory building.

The company then began shipping the products to customers before opening their own shop in 1950. Four years later the Läckerli Huus was represented for the first time with a stand at the Basel sample fair . In the early 1970s, the Läckerli Huus moved into today's domicile at Gerbergasse 57 / Falknerstrasse 34. The origins of the building go back to 1291. During a renovation, wall paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries came to light. The first shop outside the Basel region opened in Bern in 1988, and one in Zurich three years later. Today the Läckerli Huus also has branches in Lucerne, St. Gallen, Geneva, Lausanne and at the company's headquarters in Frenkendorf.

Miriam Blocher, daughter of Christoph Blocher , took over the Läckerli Huus at the beginning of 2007 as a trained food engineer and entrepreneur. Thus, after over a hundred years, the company is still an independent, traditional, privately owned company.

The company has been based in Frenkendorf since 2014, where the production facilities, warehouses and offices are located. The architecture of the building in Frenkendorf takes up the long tradition of tin biscuit jars, as well as the gold tones often used for them.
