Léonid Karev

Léonid Karev ( Russian Леонид Алексеевич Карев , Leonid Alexejewitsch Karew ; * 1969 in Moscow ) is a Russian composer , organist and pianist .

Life

Karev began his musical education at the age of seven at the Gnessin Academy of Music . From 1989 he studied composition, organ and piano at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. From 1992 to 1994 he attended Jean Guillou's master class in Zurich, deepened and finished his studies at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris with Michel Chapuis . He has appeared in concerts and festivals around the world as a composer or performer.

In addition to his compositional work, Karev is a professor of organ at the École nationale de musique d'Yerres and as an organist at the Église Notre-Dame de l'Assomption de Passy in Paris. He can also be heard at the Sunday concerts in the parish church of St-Eustache de Paris .
