André Isoir (born July 20, 1935 in Saint-Dizier ; † July 20, 2016 ) was a French organist.

Life

André Isoir received organ lessons from Édouard Souberbielle at the École supérieure de musique César-Franck (Paris). He was a student of Rolande Falcinelli at the Paris Conservatory and took piano lessons from Germaine Mounier . In 1960, Isoir received first prizes in the subjects of organ and improvisation at the Conservatory. He won several international organ competitions: 1965 in St Albans (for improvisation), in the following three years the Prix ​​du Challenge in Haarlem . Isoir received several record awards for his recordings in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1974 he received the Amis de l'Orgue Composition Prize for his variations on a Huguenot psalm .

His recording of the works of César Franck on the organ of Luçon Cathedral is particularly noteworthy .
