Löffler is an Austrian manufacturer of sportswear based in Ried im Innkreis . The company, founded in 1947, has been a subsidiary of the Fischer Sports Group since 1973 and is one of the leading manufacturers of functional clothing on the Austrian market. The company is a supplier to the Austrian Ski Association and the German Ski Association, among others .

history

Elfriede Löffler - she came from the Kunert stocking dynasty - began manufacturing stockings and socks as a private person in 1947. In 1965, the company took on the legal form of a limited liability company . After the company's financial difficulties, it was taken over in 1973 by the ski manufacturer Fischer , also based in Ried, and converted into a sports clothing manufacturer.

In the beginning, Löffler presented a tennis collection in addition to winter sweaters and hats, which existed until 1992. In 1977 Löffler developed transtex, a functional material that is still used in various areas today. Löffler has been an outfitter for the Austrian Ski Association since 1979 . The first bike collection was launched in 1981. During this time, the company was the first sportswear manufacturer to receive the Oeko-Tex certificate (at that time it was still trusted in textiles ). In 1998 the first running clothing collection was launched. In 2008, the company developed a process to not sew cycling shorts with a needle and thread, but to weld them using ultrasound, which has advantages in terms of comfort.

Companies

Löffler mainly produces in Austria at the company's headquarters in Ried im Innkreis, where around 200 employees work. According to the company, around 70 percent of the materials used are produced in the in-house knitting factory. In addition to fabric production, Ried is responsible for the entire development, cutting, assembly and control as well as all administrative tasks. Sewing work that is not done in Austria is carried out in the subsidiary in Bulgaria. Another 60 people are employed there. Fabrics and materials that Löffler cannot knit are sourced within Europe.

Around 60 percent of production is exported, according to the company, mainly to Germany, Switzerland and Italy. The main distribution channel is the sports and bike retailer as well as its own small online shop.

Sponsorship

Engagement in competitive sport

Löffler has been a partner of the Austrian Ski Association since 1979. Today all Nordic athletes are equipped with Transtex functional underwear, cross-country clothing and outerwear. The cross-country skiers, biathletes, ski jumpers and Nordic combined athletes of the German Ski Association (DSV) are also equipped with underwear by Löffler. With this concept that the jump skis visualize the underwear, Löffler won the 2015 Austrian State Marketing Prize in the Export Marketing category .

Since the 2015 season, Löffler has been equipping the Austrian cycling team Felbermayr Simplon Wels with all of its racing clothing.

Fair trade

As a partner and sponsor, Löffler supports the GLOBAL 2000 FAIRNESS RUN presented by PRO PLANET , an event for fairly produced sporting goods in Austria.
