The Lünerseebahn is a cable car and aerial tramway in Brandnertal in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . It connects the valley station at 1568  m above sea level. A. at the end of the valley in the municipality of Brand with the mountain station at the dam of the Lünersee in the municipality of Vandans at 1983  m above sea level. A.

The train only runs in the summer months, usually from mid-May to mid-October. The facility is owned by Illwerke vkw AG and operated by its subsidiary Golm Silvretta Lünersee Tourismus .

Originally built as a pure material ropeway (max. Load capacity 6 t) for the construction and maintenance of the Lünersee dam, the train has been a popular way to go on day trips to the Lünersee or the surrounding mountains of the Rätikon since 1959 . However, it was also used as a goods cableway afterwards if necessary. Among other things, it had a load platform that can be attached instead of the cabin and B. could transport smaller vehicles. Material and food transports for the Totalphütte are also carried out with the Lünerseebahn, unless they are carried out by helicopter. While the valley station is located in a new company building in the Schattenlagant district of Brandner, the old mountain station at the dam is structurally connected to the Douglasshütte .

The cable car license expired in 2019 and the maximum operating time of 60 years was reached. The existing railway was closed to public transport on September 15, 2019 and from then on, it was comprehensively refurbished. The new cable car has a cabin for a maximum of 65 people and has a transport capacity of 475 people per hour. The conversion was carried out by Doppelmayr in Wolfurt . The new Lünerseebahn went into operation on August 8, 2020.

One of several planned variants of relocating the valley station near the Palüdbahn , building a cableway with a length of almost 4.6 kilometers and supports over 100 meters high with an investment volume of around 25 million euros, was dropped.
