The Palüdbahn is a cableway ( gondola ) in fire in the Austrian state Vorarlberg and is located at the end of the valley of the Brandnertal .

It connects a valley station at 1070  m above sea level. A. with the mountain station at 1608  m above sea level. A. The facility is owned by Bergbahnen Brandnertal GmbH .

history

The name "Palüd" (paliu, Paludas) should be derived from the Latin palus, -udis ( Gen. "paludis") meaning " swamp ", " moor ", " reed ". In Romansh the field name "Palüd" can be found in connection with "Ried". (See also: paludiculture , paludarium ).

Since 1969 there has been a two-seater chairlift near today's cableway. In 2010, the Palüdbahn was rebuilt as a replacement for the old chairlift in the form of a monocable gondola on a slightly different route. After the four-month renovation and investments of around 5.3 million euros, the new 8-seater gondola went into operation on December 18, 2010 and officially opened on February 5, 2011. Together with the relocation of the valley station about 300 m into the valley and the resulting relocation of the valley run and the expansion of the snow-making system , 8.5 million euros were invested.

The parking spaces for cars and buses have been expanded considerably as part of the renovation (currently around 5220 m²).

Technical specifications

The Palüdbahn was extensively renewed in 2010 after many years of discussion and preparation. For years, the transport capacity has been considered insufficient to meet the number of passengers. By converting the system, the total capacity of the system's conveying capacity has been increased by around a third compared to the previous one.
