The Lāna'ihale is the highest point on the island Lanai in the archipelago of Hawaii . It is located in the southeast of the island and reaches a height of 1030 m above sea level. Lānaʻihale is one of the seven shield volcanoes that once formed the island of Maui Nui , from which today's islands of Maui , Molokaʻi , Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe emerged.
The forests on the slopes of Lānaʻihale are an important refuge for the Hawaiian petrel ( Pterodroma sandwichensis , Hawaiian : ʻUaʻu), a deep-sea bird belonging to the hook shearwater species .
