L'Orient-Le Jour is a Lebanese daily newspaper in French . It contains the monthly culture supplement L'Orient littéraire .

history

On June 15, 1971, the two French-language newspapers L'Orient (founded in 1924 by Gabriel Khabbaz and Georges Naccache ) and Le Jour (founded in 1934 by Michel Chiha ) merged to form L'Orient-Le Jour .

According to information from 2020, the daily newspaper has a circulation of 15,000 copies and an average of one million unique visits per month on its website. It is the only French-language daily newspaper in Lebanon and the Middle East with the exception of Egypt ( Le Progrès égyptien ).

L'Orient-Le Jour deals with Lebanese domestic politics as well as international politics, culture, economy, sport etc. It gives writers, thinkers and intellectuals the opportunity to publish their thoughts.

A literary magazine founded by Georges Schehadé in 1929 appears every first Thursday of the month under the name L'Orient-Littéraire as a literary supplement to the newspaper. The youth supplement L'Orient-Le Jour Junior for twelve to sixteen year old readers is also added every last Saturday of the month .
