background
LA Kiss is the third AFL team to represent the city of Los Angeles. The first team based in the city were the Los Angeles Cobras , but they only existed for one season. In 1996 and 1997 the Anaheim Piranhas played at the Honda Center, which at the time was still known as Arrowhead Pond, and the Los Angeles Avengers team existed between 2000 and 2009 and played their games at the Staples Center .
On August 15, 2013 it was announced that Kiss had acquired a stake in a team of the Arena Football League, whose game operations are to start in 2014.
The team signed quarterback J. J. Raterink and other players on September 10 and announced on September 17 the engagement of coach Bob McMillan, who had previously been voted AFL coach of the year 2013.
The former CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers , Schuyler Hoversten , was hired as the first president .
