The LDV Pilot was a pickup truck from LDV Limited . This was created in 1993 alongside Leyland Truck LTD from the bankrupt Leyland DAF . LDV continued to build the Leyland DAF 200-400 series and, under the project name Bulldog, developed the LDV Pilot as a replacement for the 200 series and the LDV Convoy for the 400 series.

The body now had less angular front panels and a redesigned dashboard and seats. In addition, there was now the PSA XUD 1905 cm³ diesel with a turbocharger . Large quantities were ordered by the Army, British Police and the Royal Mail . In 2007 there was a survey of more than 100,000 commercial vehicle magazine readers who voted the series, which was no longer available at the time, as the national Van Of The Year 2007. After the LDV Maxus had been built in parallel since 2004, it completely replaced the pilot and convoy in 2006.
