Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater
The Lithuanian National Theater for Opera and Ballet (lit.Lietuvos nacionalinis operos ir baleto teatras ) is a state opera house and theater in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . The theater was founded by the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania . It is located in the old town of Vilnius .
history
Before the Second World War, the State Theater was based in Kaunas . It's been back in Vilnius since 1948. In 1974 the theater was housed in the new palace. Since 1998 it has been the national theater for opera and ballet . Since 2003 it has belonged to the international association “Opera Europa” and the ISPA .
