LaMelo LaFrance Ball (born August 22, 2001 in Anaheim , California ) is an American basketball player .

career

Ball played basketball at Chino Hills High School in California and became one of the greatest talents of his year in the United States . In his high school junior season, he won the MaxPreps National Basketball Player of the Year Award for Best Player of the Year and Daily Bulletin Newcomer of the Year . He did not play for a university, but first moved to the Lithuanian club BC Vytautas in 2018 together with his brother LiAngelo Ball . There he was used in eight league games between January and April 2018 and scored an average of 6.5 points per encounter. He then played with the Los Angeles Ballers in the US JBA league. In June 2019, the Illawarra Hawks announced from the Australian NBL Balls commitment. For the team from the state of New South Wales and he played twelve games and came to a point average of 17 per use. He returned to his home country in late January 2020 to heal a foot injury and prepare for the NBA draft . He is ranked as a top contender in several preview rankings. Ball was named NBL Rookie of the Year .

LaMelo Ball is one of the protagonists of the reality TV series Ball in the Family , along with his father, the former American football player LaVar Ball , and his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo Ball .
