Location of La Caldera

La Caldera is the capital of the La Caldera department of the same name in the province of Salta in north-western Argentina . It is located 25 kilometers north of the provincial capital Salta and can be reached via Ruta Nacional 9 . In the classification of the municipalities of the province, it belongs to the municipalities of the second category with 2261 inhabitants.

history

The place is on the Camino del Alto Peru , an important trade connection between Buenos Aires and Lima in the 16th to 19th centuries .

Culture

Is local landmark the initiated on 26 October 1969 from tucumanischen artist Juan Carlos Iramain built Cristo Redentor . The 26 meter high statue is on the outskirts of the village on a wooded hill.
