The monastery La Merced in Cusco (Peru) was founded in 1539 by Fray Sebastián de Castañeda and is now located on Plazoleta Espinar in the historic city center. La Merced was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1650 , so it took 15 to 20 years to restore.
