La Quadrature du Net

La Quadrature du Net is a French non-governmental organization that campaigns for civil rights on the Internet. It was founded in 2008 in Paris by Jérémie Zimmermann , Philippe Aigrain , Benjamin Sonntag , Félix Treguer, Gérald Sedrati-Dinet, Benjamin Bayart and Lionel Maurel.

La Quadrature du Net took a stand against ACTA and Hadopi .

In 2012, La Quadrature du Net distributed a “Datalove USB stick” to all members of the European Parliament . On top of it were films, music and books that illustrate the problems of current copyright law.

Together with Acess , Bits of Freedom , European Digital Rights and Privacy International , they have launched the campaign page nakedCitizens.eu online, which citizens can use to inform their representatives in Brussels of their concerns.

The group is supported by the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Free Software Foundation .

Trivia

The name is a nod to squaring the circle . The La Quadrature du Net homepage was blocked by Orange UK in February 2012 .
