La Société des Brasseries de l'Ouest Africain (SOBOA) was founded in Dakar in 1929 . Translated into German, the name means "Association of West African Breweries", whereby the activities and sales are limited to Senegal and partly Gambia .

The total capital of SOBOA amounts to approximately 820 million F CFA (the equivalent of around 1.3 million euros).

Products

SOBOA brews beers and soft drinks under the license of international brands. Beers of the brands La Gazelle , Flag Speciale and Castel are brewed. In addition, soft drinks are bottled themselves or under license from The Coca-Cola Company , i.e. with the beverage brands Coke , Fanta and Sprite .

Market share

In the year 2000, 190,000 hectoliters (hl) of beer were sold in Senegal, 170,000 hl of which was SOBOA. In 2014 SOBOA sold around 150,000 hl of beer, 640,000 hl of soft drinks and 400 hl of wine.

The parent company Société des Brasseries et Glacières Internationales also owns other breweries in Africa .
