Life

Lacrim was born to Algerian parents in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. At the age of five, the family moved from the 13th arrondissement in Paris to Chevilly-Larue in the south of Île-de-France. At the age of eleven he no longer attended school and two years later he was placed under the supervision of a youth judge until he was 17. He was arrested for the first time in 2001 for robbery and served further sentences in 2002, 2003 and 2009. After being released in 2006, he spent three years in Spain before moving back to France in 2009 and finally starting a music career in Marseille . On October 9, 2012, the rapper was sentenced to a total of two years in prison for a robbery in 2002. He started the sentence in August 2013 in Aix-en-Provence . During the course of his arrest, the artist received enormous support, especially on social media. Among other things, the hashtag #LiberezLacrim spread . He was released on February 24, 2014. In March 2015, Lacrim was again sentenced to three years in prison after fingerprints on Kalashnikovs in a Marseilles arms depot in 2011 . He then fled alternately to Morocco and Spain , where he continued his work on the RIPRO mixtape series. However, after five months he surrendered to the French authorities. He was released on November 28, 2016 after being detained for over a year.

Career

His first guest appearances were on projects by Mister You, whom he met in 2009 while in prison. In 2010, the rapper gained a musical foothold with the mixtape Liberté provisoire . His debut album Corleone was released on September 1, 2014 after his release from prison and for the first time with label support from Capitol Music France . Contrary to negative reviews, the album immediately reached number one on the French album charts and was awarded a gold record for over 50,000 units just two weeks after its release . During his time on the run in 2015, the first mixtape of the RIPRO series was released and climbed to number one on the French album charts. In December 2015, the second part of RIPRO 2 was published . In January 2017 the artist founded his own label called Plata O Plomo Records . This resulted in the release of his second studio album Force & Honneur on March 31, 2017 , which already achieved multiple platinum status in France in August 2017. RIPRO 3 appeared in the same year . His most recent project, called Lacrim , was released on February 8, 2019 and was the fifth of his albums to hit number one in France.
