Lacuna Island ( English for Gap Island ) is a small island in the Biscoe Islands archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 13 km east of Tula Point , the northern end of Renaud Island .
The island was mapped using aerial photographs by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 to 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it so in 1959 because it appears to fill a gap in the aerial photographs.
