Ladislav Škorpil (born June 6, 1945 in Hradec Králové , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak football player and current coach .

Player career

Ladislav Škorpil played from 1955 to 1964 and again from 1966 to 1968 for RH Hradec Králové . Between 1964 and 1966, his military service, he played for Dukla Žamberk .

Coaching career

At the age of only 23, Škorpil ended his playing career and began as a C and D youth coach at Spartak Hradec Králové in the 1969/70 season . From 1970 he was responsible for the A and B youth of the club, with whom he was able to win the Czech Cup in 1981.

From 1982 to 1990, Škorpil also worked as a youth coach for the Czechoslovak national team . In 1986 he was Czech A youth champion with Hradec Králové. In the final of the Czechoslovak championship, the team lost to the Slovak champions 1. FC Tatran Prešov .

Although he once said that he never wanted to work in the adult sector, he took over the first team from Hradec Králové in the first division in the second half of the 1990/91 season. In 1993/94 he went to DAC Dunajská Streda in Slovakia . Then he trained again in 1994/95 the youth of SK Hradec Králové. Between 1995 and 1997 he worked at Dukla Prague , which he led from third back to the first division. In 1997/98 he returned to Dunajská Streda for one season. In 1998/99 he was again coach in Hradec Králové until the 9th matchday. Before the 16th matchday he was signed by Slovan Liberec , with whom he won the cup in 2000 and surprisingly won the Czech championship in 2002. On January 31, 2004 he agreed with Slovan to terminate his contract and took over the Czech U-21 selection on February 1 . In October 2007 he returned to his old club Slovan Liberec as the successor to the dismissed coach Michal Zach .
