Lady G

Lady G (actually: Janice Fyffe ; born May 7, 1968 in Spanish Town , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican dancehall and reggae musician.

Career

Her first hit single was in 1988 with Nuff Respect , a song based on June Carol Lodge's " Telephone Love " riddim . It was a sung warning to all chauvis and became an anthem for female dancehall fans for a while. Another hit for Lady G the following year was Legal Rights , a duet with her mentor Papa San , which was produced by Winston Riley . Round Table Talk followed in 1990, again together with Papa San. Their debut album God Daughter was released in 1995 on VP Records . Along with Lady Saw and a few others, Lady G was one of the few successful women in dancehall in the 1990s. Her song Man a Bad Man , which was on the soundtrack of the Jamaican film Third World Cop (1999) produced by Chris Blackwell , also became famous . Lady G has appeared on the stage at many important Jamaican and international reggae festivals, including the 2002 Cologne Summerjam in Germany and the Reggae Jam in Bersenbrück in 2009 .
