Čardak camp

Čardak is a former holiday settlement on the southern edge of Deliblatska peščara in the Južni Banat district , Serbia , which has served as a refugee camp since 1991 . The camp is located about three kilometers north-north-east of the village of Deliblato , on whose boundary it is in the municipality of Kovin .

During the Yugoslav Wars , Serbs were expelled from Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina or fled. Some of them found refuge in the former cottage settlement of Čardak. In 2005 about 200 people lived in the camp. Since the end of March 2020, refugees from the Near and Middle East have been brought to Čardak in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic .
