The Deliosee (Italian. Lago Delio ) is a lake in the north of the province of Varese , Italy.
geography
The lake lies on the territory of the two municipalities of Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca and Tronzano Lago Maggiore , right on the border between Italy and Switzerland.
It is a natural glacial lake, which, however, has been greatly enlarged by human hands - by building two dams.
It is accessible to motorized traffic from Maccagno ; Hiking trails also open it up from Tronzano Lago Maggiore and from Pino sulla Sponda del Lago Maggiore .
history
A first dam was built in 1911. In the 1960s, the two current dams were built to keep the water at a safe level. Today the lake serves as a source for the hydroelectric power station in Roncovalgrande .
