The Lago di Morasco (German Muraschgsee ) lies on the Italian side of the Griespass at 1,815 m. ü. M. The dam was built around 1940 as a gravity dam . The uppermost village "Muraschg" of the Formazza valley and the church were sacrificed for the construction of the dam .
The valley Vallone di Nefelgiù leads into the reservoir from the southwest . This high valley is bounded in a south-westerly direction by the Passo di Nefelgiù (2,580 m above sea level). The pass leads down to the two reservoirs Lago Vannino and Lago Sruèr. The pass is on the Route des Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA).
