The Lagrange peak is around 450 m high and prominent mountain on the southeast coast of Brabant Island in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . It rises 9 km northeast of Strath Point .
Participants in the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery named the headland known today as Punta Camus immediately south of the mountain as Cap Lagrange . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred this designation to the mountain described here in 1960. It is named after the Belgian mathematician and astronomer Charles Henri Lagrange (1851–1932), a member of the commission for the Belgica expedition.
