The lake Laguna Rinconada is a lake in southeastern Peru on the southwest flank of the Cordillera Carabaya , a mountain range of the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera . The lake is located about 110 km east-southeast of the city of Cusco . The provincial capital Sicuani is located about 45 km southwest of the lake .
The lake is located in the Ananea district of the San Antonio de Putina province . The places La Rinconada and Ananea are not far from the lake. The Río Ramis , a tributary of Lake Titicaca, drains the lake at its southwestern end.
The lake, at an altitude of 4631 m , has an area of 5.5 km². The lengthwise extension in SW-NE direction is 5.9 km, the average width 700 m. To the northwest of the lake rises the 5409 m high Nevado Nunacuyo, east of the lake the 5847 m high Nevado Ananea Chico. To the southwest, below the lake, there are numerous mines.
