Sicuani is the capital of the Sicuani district and Canchis province in the Cusco region in southern Peru .
The city has 46,102 inhabitants (2017). In 2007 the population was 41,352. Sicuani is the agricultural center of the region. The Río Vilcanota , the upper reaches of the Río Urubamba, flows through the city . It is connected to the railway line of the Peruvian Southern Railway .
The Roman Catholic Territorial Prelature Sicuani has its seat in Sicuani.
