The Roman Catholic Territorial Prelature of Sicuani ( lat. : Territorialis Praelatura Sicuanensis ) is in the south of Peru located Roman Catholic territorial prelate based in Sicuani . It includes the provinces of Canchis, Canas, Chumbivilcas and Espinar of the Cusco region .
history
The territorial prelature Sicuani was established on January 10, 1959 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Cuzco and subordinated to this as a suffragan .
The prelature was significantly influenced by Alban Edward Quinn OCarm , who was the Apostolic Administrator of Sicuani for 28 years, from July 12, 1971 to July 26, 1999 .
Pastoral zones
The prelature is divided into five pastoral zones:
- Norte: Parishes of Pitumarca, Checacupe, Combapata, Tinta and Yanaoca
- Sur: Parishes in Sicuani and Parish Maranganí
- Alto Canas: Parishes Langui, Layo, Descanso and Checca
- Espinar: Parishes of Yauri, Pichigua, Coporaque, Tocroyo and Pallpata
- Chumbivilcas: Parishes of Santo Tomás, Velille, Colquemarca, Chamaca, Livitaca and Ccapacmarca
