Shengsi ( 嵊泗县 , Shèngsì Xiàn ) is a district in the prefecture -level city of Zhoushan in the southeast Chinese province of Zhejiang . It extends over 404 larger and smaller islands, 15 of which are permanently inhabited. The population was around 80,000 in 2002 and 76,108 at the 2010 census. The land area of the islands is 86 km², the associated sea area covers 8,738 km².
The Huaniaoshan Lighthouse (Huaniao dengta 花鸟 灯塔) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (5-518) since 2001 .
Yangshan Deep Water Port is located in the administrative area of Yangshan Municipality .
Administrative structure
At the community level, Shengsi consists of three large communities and four communities . These are:
- Greater community Caiyuan (菜园镇);
- Greater community Shengshan (嵊山镇);
- Greater community Yangshan (洋山镇);
- Wulong Township (五 龙乡);
- Community Huanglong (黄龙乡);
- Community Gouqi (枸杞乡);
- Community Huaniao (花鸟乡).
