The Lahore Museum , also called Central Museum , ( Punjabi : لاہور میوزیم ), ( Urdu : لاہور عجائب گھر ) is a museum in Lahore ( Pakistan ).

history

Opened in 1894, the museum was built in the style of Mughal architecture and is dedicated to the history of Pakistan. The collections contain works and finds mainly from the Mughal period . The museum building was designed by the architect Ganga Ram .

The museum's collections include carved Mughal and Sikh doors, as well as paintings from the Mughal, Sikh and British eras. In addition to musical instruments, antique jewelry, textiles, ceramics and weapons, there are also relics from the time of the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom as well as Tibetan and Nepalese works.

Others

The novel Kim by the British writer Rudyard Kipling is set in the Lahore Museum. Rudyard Kipling's father, John Lockwood Kipling , was one of the museum's earliest curators .
