Laima Garnelienė

Laima Garnelienė (* 1954 in Marijampolė , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian lawyer . She is a judge at the Lithuanian Court of Appeal and Chair of the Criminal Matters Division .

biography

From 1972 to 1977 Laima Garnelienė studied at the Law Faculty of Vilnius University . From 1977 to 1981 she worked as a lawyer in the Anykščiai Rayon and from 1981 to 1986 as an assistant prosecutor in the Marijampolė Public Prosecutor's Office . From 1992 to 1995 she was a judge of the Marijampolė District Court and from 1993 to 1995 she was the Vice-President of the District Court. Since 1995 she has been a judge at the Lithuanian Court of Appeal and since 1999 chairwoman of the criminal matters department.

Garnelienė represented Lithuania at a number of congresses and workshops at EU level, such as the 4th International Workshop on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2000 and the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC) in 2001 . In 2008 she was one of two representatives of Lithuania at the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE).

Since June 2006 she has been chairwoman of the Lithuanian Judges' Council .
