The Lake Ainslie is a lake in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .
Located on Cape Breton Island , it is the largest natural freshwater lake in the province. In the north, the southwest arm of the Margaree River forms the outflow of the lake. The river flows into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence . The lake is about 20 km long and an average of 5 km wide. It is located in Inverness County .
The lake was by George Robert Ainslie called, the Deputy Governor of the Cape Breton Island 1816-1820, when the island was part of Nova Scotia.
The bald eagle lives in the vicinity of the lake .
