The Lake Claire is the largest lake, which fully in the Canadian province of Alberta is located.
The lake is located within Wood Buffalo National Park and west of Lake Athabasca . It is located between the two mouths of the Peace River and the Athabasca River . It is part of the Peace Athabasca Inland Delta .
The lake has a total area (including islands) of 1436 km², a water area of 1415 km² and is at an altitude of 213 m .
The lake is fed by the Birch River and McIvor River . The two lakes Baril Lake and Mamawi Lake are in the catchment area . The lake flows over the Claire River to the Peace River , whose water is fed to the Arctic Ocean via the Slave River , Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River .
