The Birch River ( English for "Birch River") is a tributary of Lake Claire in the north of the Canadian province of Alberta .
The Birch River has its source in Birch Mountains Wildland Provincial Park north of Namur Lake . It initially flows in a predominantly north-westerly direction. After the confluence of Harper Creek from the left, the Birch River turns to the east-northeast, takes on Alice Creek from the right and finally flows into Lake Claire . The Birch River has a length of about 380 km. At the gauge below the mouth of Alice Creek, the mean discharge is 32 m³ / s.
