Parker Dam

The Lake Havasu is a dam on the border of the US states Arizona and California . The lake is 72 kilometers long and has an area of 67 square kilometers. The Colorado River is dammed up by the Parker Dam , an arch weight wall .

This is operated by the US Bureau of Reclamation .

With four Francis turbines, the hydropower plant has a total output of 120  MW and an annual output of around 450 million  kWh . A significant proportion of the energy is used for the pumps that direct the water from Lake Havasu into the Colorado River Aqueduct in southern California and into the Central Arizona Project Aqueduct in central and southern Arizona.

The lake also serves as a recreation area. For this reason, the water level must not fall too low.
