The Lake Keilambete is a Maar, 4 km north-west 140 meters above sea level at Terang in Victoria in Australia is.

The maar is circular with a crater rim 11 m high and has a diameter of 2 kilometers. The rim of the crater is made of tuff and the crater is 40 m deep.

Sediments from the tertiary like argillaceous limestone and limestone , are located in the base of the Maars and at the sea coast as well as at low crater rims. There was no lava outflow from the volcanic crater .

Investigations have shown that the altitude and the salinity varied over time and that the deposits in the maar could be dated to an age of 30,000 years.

In the vicinity of the crater there is cattle farming and tuff and limestone are extracted in a quarry . The profile of the tuff ring can be seen in the quarry, further operation should be carried out in a restricted manner in order to avoid the crater rim being destroyed.
