The Lake Nerka is a 193 sq km large and 63 km long lake in southwest Alaska .
The 12 m high lake is located in the eastern foothills of the Wood River Mountains within Wood-Tikchik State Park . The elongated U-shaped lake has two branching arms: the Amakuk Arm in the northwest and the River Bay in the southeast. The Agulukpak River drains Lake Beverley to the north . In the west, Elva Creek and the outflow of Little Togiak Lake flow into the lake. In the south, the Agulowak River leaves Lake Nerka and flows to Lake Aleknagik further south .
The lake forms a spawning area for sockeye salmon ( Oncorhynchus nerka ). In 1910 the lake was named Nerka after this species of fish .
